What does it mean to move forward in a workplace that is constantly changing?
How do we build meaningful relationships across a large and complex organization? How do we continue growing our careers without losing sight of who we are? And as AI becomes part of our everyday work, how do we embrace its possibilities while continuing to strengthen our own judgment, curiosity, and distinctly human skills?
Join us on September 29 for AMP Forward: Connect. Grow. Transform., a morning designed especially for UCSF's administrative professional community.
Together, we'll explore three dimensions of moving forward—our relationships, our careers, and the way we work.
CONNECT: Work Besties, Where You At? with Kat Vellos, author of We Should Get Together
Our ability to build relationships across teams, departments, and functions is essential to getting things done at UCSF—and to feeling like we belong within such a large organization. In this interactive keynote, connection expert and bestselling author Kat Vellos will help us skip the small talk and go straight to the good stuff: building meaningful workplace relationships in real time. Expect to laugh, learn, meet people outside your usual UCSF circle, and leave with new connections you're excited to continue building throughout the year.
GROW: What Would Dolly Do? Dolly Rules for Getting Ahead Without Losing Yourself with Kim Jarboe LaPean, Director of Communications and Engagement, UCSF Finance and Administration Services
What can Dolly Parton teach us about building a successful and authentic career? Quite a lot, as it turns out. Drawing on more than 30 years of communications experience and 23 years at the University of California, Kim Jarboe LaPean will share her career journey and the "Dolly Rules" she follows to keep growing, stay grounded, and navigate a career without losing sight of who she is along the way. Come ready for career wisdom, reflection, and probably a little Dolly.
TRANSFORM: What Happens to Human Intelligence When We Begin Working with AI? with Christine Kahane, executive coach, author, and founder of the Institute for UNLearning.
AI is already changing how we communicate, analyze, organize, and get work done. But as we discover what AI can do for us, there's another question worth asking: What happens to our own intelligence when we begin working alongside it? In this interactive session, we'll explore practical ways to work with AI while considering what happens to our judgment, curiosity, authorship, and capacity when AI enters the work with us. Through practical examples, shared experiences, and small-group conversations, we'll explore how AI can help us work differently without leaving our own intelligence behind.
Bring your laptop! This session will include a short hands-on opportunity to experiment with ChatGPT. Bring a laptop (and a charger) and make sure you can log in to UCSF's approved ChatGPT environment before the event. You'll have an opportunity to bring a real, non-confidential example from your own work and explore how AI might help you communicate, organize, analyze, or think through a challenge in a new way. No prior AI experience is required. You can participate independently or work with someone at your table.
And, of course, there will be breakfast…and raffle prizes.
We'll start the morning with breakfast, create plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow AMP members, and have raffle prizes throughout the event.
Most importantly, we hope you'll leave with new relationships, new perspectives, and at least one idea you're excited to bring back to your work.
