Join us for a conversation with James Bennan, VP/Chief Operating Officer of Adult Services at UCSF Health.

James is responsible for the strategic planning, daily management, financial oversight, and business plan development processes for Adult Services. This requires close collaboration with physician and other clinical leaders as well as colleagues in strategy to develop and implement initiatives to grow neurosciences, heart & vascular, transplant, general surgery, and other adult services. His operational responsibilities have included direct oversight of perioperative services, the emergency department, gastroenterology and radiology.  During his 28 year career at UCSF Health, James has also held a variety of positions in finance helping shepherd our transition from a $1.6 billion medical center in FY2013 to a $6.8 billion health system. Finance responsibilities have included oversight of the annual operating and capital budget processes, service line profitability reporting, data warehousing and application support, and analyses such as financial planning to support the opening of the Mission Bay hospitals. James attended UC Irvine where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration with concentrations in finance/accounting and organizational development.
